While other online sources include other Grades in their exam paper collection, we focus solely on Grade 12. We intend to equip a matric learner with all the tools necessary to achieve a distinction. Past exam papers are one of the direct ways to achieve this.
Building a Dedicated Grade 12 Exam Papers Website.
In our attempts to help South African learners over the years (since 2016), we attempted to provide a holistic approach (under various domains/ websites), where we listed all educational tools in one portal, E.g., all school grades’ study resources, university application and courses information, and even educational news. But that never worked. South African Grade 12 students have their own set of demands and need a special, undiluted focus.
Matric students practically use past exam papers from January until the day the matric results come out in the following year.
This is how they do it:
- When the schools open at the beginning of the year, Grade 12 learners start to gather all past papers they can find on the internet.
- They immediately start to test their knowledge by attempting the questions in the papers and comparing their answers to the provided memos. They want to stay ahead of the academic game in preparation for the final exams already.
- Before the end of Term 2, most matric students have already gone through the entire yearly curriculum of all their subjects. They know already what topics require special focus.
- After the May/June exams are written, each matric learner will do a thorough revision using those exact papers to see exactly where they fell short. They do this by also comparing previous mid-year exam papers
- Then the trials come in September. Immediately after writing, learners want to see their results. Remember, failing trial exams means a learner is not ready for the final exams, which typically start a month after (October).
- After writing the final exams, matric students are so eager to see how they performed. Unfortunately, learners cannot see their results immediately. They also can’t keep the exam question papers after writing, unless they request them from the schools.
Basically, a Grade 12 learner’s academic year is a year of “past question papers”. Fortunately, we gain access to papers which have been recently written. These papers are loaded on our website immediately. We have generous teachers across South African schools who supply us with these papers as a way to help learners do their revisions on time.
